The Objection: It is too expensive
Many objections I get when asking others about starting their health and fitness journeys is that they don’t have time or that it is too expensive. I am just going to cover the “ too expensive” objection today. I work in a profession where you see a lot of hurt, disease, and struggles. I am not saying that all things can be cured by living a healthy lifestyle, I know that sometimes genetics unfortunately play a role, however many diseases and illnesses could be prevented or the progression could be slowed down by staying active and focusing more on the foods you put in your body.
We live in a society where everything is fast paced, we want satisfaction for our wants and we want them asap. We want fast results losing weight so we take diet supplements, and when we are hungry we want to eat fast which usually equals processed food. All of these things do nothing good for our bodies, they hurt us rather than nurture our body with what it needs to function properly. This leaves many of us later in life with diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and many other horrible diseases that cause us to have to live on so many medications as we age just to function.
If we would just take care of and be mindful of what we are putting in our bodies early in life, we could decrease the risk of having to deal with these horrible diseases and complications later in life.
I will agree that some gym memberships charge an expensive monthly fee, but there are many other options available to you rather than going to the gym. My personal choice is doing home workouts. I have hundreds of workouts available to me every day and it equals out to about 13 dollars a month, they are quality workouts, many of them are very short in length, and some do not require equipment. You also have the option to just get outside go for a walk or a run that does not cost you anything.
As for eating healthy there are many tips you could use including planning your meals for the week and making your grocery list from your planned meals. This will save you from buying unnecessary items that you don’t really need. Also you can start shopping at places like trader joes or aldis and watch the sale papers. There is always a way if it is important to you.
I have made the choice that my health is something I don’t have an option about, it is a priority and I will invest in myself now. I want to know that I have done everything possible to live a long, healthy, and active life. What will you choose?
